Final Fantasy X Aeons
Since the time of the Summoners of Zanarkand, Each High Summoner has gone on a pilgrimage to defeat Sin. In their quest, they make stops at the many temples in Spira. At each temple, they must find their way to the Chamber of the Faith. There the Faith will grant them the ability to summon their Aeon in battle. These Aeons with their devastating attacks and spells can turn the tide of any battle, and help the High Summoner reach her final destination in Zanrakand.
Aeons are an essential part of Final fantasy X's entire storyline. The majestic beasts can only be summoned by Yuna. when Yuna summons an Aeon, the other two party members leave the field. The Aeon will always get the first attack when summoned. This is why it is good to use them when they or Yuna are in overdrive. You can easily make any enemy party dust with your overdrives. With each Aeon, there is a set of commands for them to use, similar to the party's commands. (Yojimbo is an exception) You have their regular attack, special attack, Shield, Boost, and Dismiss.
When you use Shield, the Aeon defends for ne turn. Any attack, magical or physical, is reduced to 1/4 the normal damage. The downfall is the Aeons overdrive gauge does not fill like normal.
Boost lowers the Aeons defense for a single turn. The damage is greater, but the overdrive gauge will fill twice as fast. This is a great tool with weaker enemies, to build their overdrives up.
Dismiss will obviously send the Aeon away, allowing the other members of the party to return. The order of turns before the Aeon is summoned is maintained, and the next person in line will strike.
Aeon Abilities
Aeons can learn abilities, once you have gotten the Summoner's Soul from Belgemine. With this Key Item, you can use items from your inventory to teach your Aeons spells, attacks, and other skills your party can learn. It is great to be able to give them protective spells, or perhaps give your elemental Aeons the high level spells for healing themselves. The only two Aeons that cannot learns abilities are Yojimbo and Magus Sisters. Below is a complete list of the abilities you can teach your Aeon, as well as what items you will need to do so.

Aeon Attributes
Once you get the Aeon's Soul from Belgemine, you will then be able to increase your Aeons stats with Spheres. The stats you can increase are: HP, MP, Strength, Defense, M. Defense, Magic, Agility, Accuracy, Evasion, and Luck. The number of spheres required to increase the stat is dependent on how high it is already. The higher the stat, the more spheres it will take to increase it. This is far more easier to accomplish later in the game. It is a good idea to definitely increase the stats of the Aeons with the lowest stats.
|
Name |
Valefor |
Location: Besaid Temple |
This aerial Aeon easily dodges many ground attacks. This Aeon has a quick hitting motion which is enhanced a great deal by his very high accuracy. |
Unique Attack: Sonic Wings |
Valefor sends a shockwave towards a single enemy. This will not only inflict damage, but it will also delay the targets next turn. This combined with the quick recovery time, make Sonic Wings an excellent choice for attacks. |
Overdrive: Energy Ray/Energy Blast |
Valefor uses an energy blast that strikes all enemies from below. It is non-elemental in nature, thus you do not ever have to worry about enemies getting healed by the attack. Valefor can also acquire a second Overdrive, once Yuna has joined the party. Return to Besaid, and find the little girl with the dog, by the temple. She will then hand you the item to change Valefor's Overdrive to Energy Blast. If for some reason, the girl is not near the temple, she has moved to the item shop. Energy Blast hits for more damage than Energy Ray does. But the cost is a much higher recovery time after the attack. Once Yuna Activates her Nirvana weapon, all of Valefor's attacks can break the 9999 damage limit. |
|
Name |
Ifrit |
Location: Kilika Temple |
Ifrit possesses a high strength stat. But this is rendered no good by the lacking defense and magic defense. One plus though is his elemental attribute means he can be healed by casting Fire/Fira/Firaga on him. He is best left to the enemies that are weak to fire elemental damage. |
Unique Attack: Meteor Strike |
Meteor Strike is a non-elemental attack, despite it being Ifrits. It hits anything, even long range enemies, but has a slower recovery time than normal attacks. The one bonus is that Protect does not decrease the damage dealt by the attack. |
Overdrive: Hellfire |
Ifrit surrounds all enemies in a massive casing of fire, then launches himself in the air. He then tosses two balls of flame to incinerate the enemies in a inferno.
Ifrit has a great overdrive for the foes who are weak to fire. Hellfire can cause a great deal of damage to these enemies, with very little effort. |
|
Name |
Ixion |
Location: Djose Temple |
Ixion is one of the Aeons that possess both physical and magical defense. This makes him a perfect summon for defending against a more brutal attack. He is also quick to recover in his attacks, thus allowing for greater speeds in attacks. Once Wakka activates his World Champion weapon, Ifrit can exceed 9999 damage. |
Unique Attack: Aerospark |
Ixion will launch a set of non elemental, razor-sharp discs at a single enemy. Not only do they cause great damage, but they also negate magical effects. These effects include Reflect, Protect, Shell, Haste, Regen, and all Null-spells. |
Overdrive: Thor's Hammer |
Ixion creates a major storm-filled vortex around the enemies. He then pounds them with lightning based attacks. With the activation of Kimahri's Spirit Lance, Ixion can exceed the 9999 damage limit. |
|
Name |
Shiva |
Location: Macalania Temple |
The gorgeous Queen of ice is truly a match to be reckoned with. Not only can she easily dodge attacks, she can attack with speed and accuracy. She is about the only Aeon that can defeat the mighty Anima. |
Unique Attack: Heavenly Strike |
Shiva drops a massive chunk of ice on a single enemy. This will also delay the targets turn, as well as inflicting Threaten. |
Overdrive: Diamond Dust |
Shiva will spread a great sheet of ice across the field, trapping all enemies in her freeze. Then with a simple snap of her finger, the sheet shatters, damaging its captives. when Lulu activates her Onion Knight, Shiva can exceed the 9999 damage limit. |
|
Name |
Bahamut |
Location: Palace of St. Bevelle |
The mighty lord of all dragons has the Break Damage ability, thus allowing him to exceed 9999 damage from the start. In addition to this, he is the only Aeon who comes with the ability to cast level 3 Black Magic. Bahamut's regular attack also causes more damage than any other Aeon in the game. He is truly a great addition to your arsenal. |
Unique Attack: Impulse |
Bahamut will charge four balls of darkness, then launches them at all enemies on the screen. This is the best multi-enemy attack for Aeons. |
Overdrive: Mega Flare |
Bahamut anchors himself in the ground, and charges up for a devastating attack. He will then unleash a massive non elemental energy blast from his mouth. This will cause great damage to all enemies on the screen. It will deal over 9999 damage, and will grow stronger over time. |
|
Name |
Yojimbo |
Location: Cavern of the Stolen Faith |
Truly a Aeon of great mystery, Yojimbo answers to no one. His attacks are either deadly or very weak. That said he has no attacks you can manually choose from. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend for his services. |
Unique Attack: Daigoro, Kozuka, Wakizashi, Zanmato |
Yojimbo has no special attacks. Nor does he have any Overdrives. He will perform either Daigoro, Kozuka, Wakizashi, Zanmato, depending on the amount of Gil you pay him. Once you activate Auron's Masamune, Yojimbo will deal higher damage than 9999. |
Overdrive: None |

|
Name |
Anima |
Location: Baaj Temple |
The most frightening and perhaps the most powerful Aeon, Anima is a force to be reckoned with. By the time you get Anima, you can teach Aeons new abilities. Giving him Haste, Protect, Shell, and Curaga will set you up for a Aeon that cannot be matched by anyone. |
Unique Attack: Pain |
Anima reaches deep within his soul, bringing upon the enemy a blast of grief and anguish. This attack has a incredibly high chance of causing instant death. Pain also possesses a high recovery time. Higher than most unique attacks. |
Overdrive: Oblivion |
Oblivion is pretty much how it is. All enemies are sent beneath the plain of earth, where Anima can unleash his full horror on them. With a series of non elemental assaults, he can wipe out almost everyone in the game. |
|
Name |
Magus Sisters |
Location: Remiem Temple |
Magus Sisters act almost like three individual Aeons. Each will do a command, depending on what Yyuna asks of them. This kind of makes them a bit more difficult to control. The requests made by Yuna are done dependent on the morale of the Sisters at the time. |
Unique Attack: Camisade, Razzia, Passado |
with the "Do what you will" command, the Sisters might perform their unique attack. Cindy will shoot blades of fire at the enemies, Sandy will launch herself on top of an enemy, and Mindy will fire a rapid set of stingers at a single target. |
Overdrive: Delta Attack |
Attack |
Description |
Do what you will. |
Sisters do what they choose. Opens other commands |
Fight! |
Sisters perform regular attacks |
Go! Go! |

When you select the command "Combine Powers" they will join together for a devistating attack that leaves others looking pale in comparison. It will strike all enemies on the screen. This attack is matched only by Anima's Oblivion attack. |
